Yeast Waffles

Yeast Waffles
Ingredients
- 1 cup milk
- 2 cups cool water
- 2 Tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 Tablespoons active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup butter melted
Instructions
- Heat the milk until hot but not boiling. Let cool to lukewarm.In a large mixing bowl, combine the lukewarm milk, water, sugar, yeast, salt, and egg.Beat on low speed for 1 minute, until combined.Add the flour and melted butter. Beat again for 1 minute, until smooth.Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel. Place in a warm spot and let rise until bubbly on top, about 30 minutes.Preheat and lightly grease a waffle iron.Stir the batter gently, then pour onto the hot waffle iron.Cook until waffles are golden brown and crisp.
Notes
- Batter should be thin and pourable.A slightly tangy flavor is normal with yeast waffles.For a warmer rise, place the covered bowl in an oven that has been briefly warmed, then turned off.
