Ingredients
1cupmilk
2cupscool water
2Tablespoonsgranulated sugar
2Tablespoonsactive dry yeast
1teaspoonsalt
1largeegg
3cupsall-purpose flour
1/2cupbuttermelted
Instructions
Heat the milk until hot but not boiling. Let cool to lukewarm.In a large mixing bowl, combine the lukewarm milk, water, sugar, yeast, salt, and egg.Beat on low speed for 1 minute, until combined.Add the flour and melted butter. Beat again for 1 minute, until smooth.Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel. Place in a warm spot and let rise until bubbly on top, about 30 minutes.Preheat and lightly grease a waffle iron.Stir the batter gently, then pour onto the hot waffle iron.Cook until waffles are golden brown and crisp.
Notes
Batter should be thin and pourable.A slightly tangy flavor is normal with yeast waffles.For a warmer rise, place the covered bowl in an oven that has been briefly warmed, then turned off.
