Hills & Dells (German Pancakes)
Hills & Dells, also known as German Pancakes, bake up puffed and golden with crisp edges and a soft center. This oven-baked pancake is simple to prepare and makes a dramatic, delicious breakfast with very little effort.

Hills & Dells (German Pancakes)
Ingredients
- 6 large eggs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 6 Tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F.Place a 9×13-inch baking dish in the oven with the butter and allow it to melt completely.Meanwhile, add the eggs, flour, milk, and salt to a blender and blend until smooth.Carefully remove the hot baking dish from the oven once the butter is melted and swirling.Pour the batter evenly into the hot pan.Return the dish to the oven and bake for 18–20 minutes, until puffed and golden around the edges.Remove from the oven and serve immediately.
Notes
- The pancake will deflate slightly as it cools—this is normal.Serve with powdered sugar, syrup, fresh fruit, or lemon juice.Best enjoyed right out of the oven.
