Chocolate Chip Brownies

Made with a simple mixture of butter, sugar, and chocolate chips, these brownies are a classic favorite. Topped with powdered sugar, they are a sweet, irresistible treat perfect for parties, potlucks, or as a snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 4 Tablespoons water
  • 2 pkgs chocolate chips divided
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • powded sugar for dusting

Instructions

  • Melt Butter and Sugar:
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter, sugar, and water together. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted and smooth.
    Add Chocolate Chips:
Stir in 1 package (12 oz) chocolate chips and vanilla extract to the melted butter mixture. Stir until the chocolate chips are fully melted and the mixture is smooth.
Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes to cool slightly.
    Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the baking soda, salt, and flour.
    Add Eggs and Flour:
Add 4 eggs to the cooled chocolate mixture, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Gradually add the flour mixture and stir until combined.
    Add the Remaining Chocolate Chips:
Stir in the remaining 1 package of chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
    Bake:
Pour the batter into a greased large cookie sheet. Spread the batter evenly in the pan.
Bake in the preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-32 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (but not wet batter). Be careful not to overbake.
    Cool and Serve:
Allow the brownies to cool in the pan before cutting into squares. Sprinkle with powdered sugar just before serving.

Notes

  • Storage: These brownies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. They can also be frozen for up to 2 months. Just make sure to wrap them tightly in plastic wrap before freezing.
  • Texture Variations: If you want a more cake-like texture, add an extra egg to the recipe. For an even richer result, feel free to add 1/2 cup of chopped nuts to the batter before baking.
  • Serving Suggestion: Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an indulgent dessert.
