Nutella Cupcakes with Nutella Frosting

Nutella Cupcakes with Nutella Frosting

Chocolate cupcakes topped with creamy Nutella frosting and a chocolate-hazelnut center. A rich dessert perfect for celebrations and special occasions.

Ingredients

Cupcakes

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder sifted
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup Nutella (or Hazelnut spread) melted to liquify

Frosting Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 packet Dream Whip Mix (located next to Jello in store isle)
  • 1/3 cup Nutella
  • 3 Tablespoon milk more or less depending on consistency
  • 2-3 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

To Make Cupcakes

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and line a muffin pan with cupcake liners.
    In a bowl, whisk cocoa powder and hot water until smooth. Let cool slightly.
    In a large bowl, combine cocoa mixture, buttermilk, sugar, eggs, oil, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
    In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients until combined.
    Stir in heavy cream and melted Nutella.
    Divide batter evenly among cupcake liners.
    Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool completely.

To Make Frosting

  • Beat butter, salt, and vanilla until smooth.
    Add Dream Whip mix, Nutella, milk, and powdered sugar. Beat until light and fluffy, adjusting milk as needed.
    Frost cooled cupcakes. If desired, pipe frosting and add a small spoonful of Nutella in the center.
