Twisty Garlic Cheesy Breadsticks

Easy garlic breadsticks made with frozen bread dough, butter, garlic, mozzarella, and parmesan. Twisted, baked until golden, and perfect for serving with marinara or as a side dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf frozen bread dough thawed
  • 1/3 cup butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 3/4 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese, divided

Instructions

Instructions

  • Lightly flour a work surface. Fold the thawed bread dough in half, then roll into a 12-inch square.
In a small bowl, stir together melted butter and minced garlic. Spread evenly over the dough.
Sprinkle mozzarella cheese and ¼ cup of the parmesan evenly over the surface. Fold the dough in half again.
Cut the dough into 1-inch-wide strips. Twist each strip 2–3 times, pinching the ends to seal.
Arrange breadsticks about 2 inches apart on a greased baking sheet. Cover loosely and let rise for 20 minutes.
Preheat oven to 375°F. Sprinkle breadsticks with remaining parmesan cheese.
Bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve warm with marinara sauce or as a side dish.

Notes

  • Frozen bread dough works well for this recipe, but homemade dough can be used if preferred.
For extra flavor, brush the baked breadsticks with a little additional melted butter before serving.
These breadsticks are best served warm but can be reheated briefly in the oven to refresh texture.
Serve with marinara sauce, spaghetti sauce, or alongside pasta, soup, or salad.
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one day or refrigerated and reheated as needed.
